Father Said: “You Are No Longer Our Daughter.” They Took Everything. Three Years Later… They Declared Me Dead. I Walked into My Funeral — I Smiled and Said…

Two clicks.

My blood went cold.

The trust fund my grandparents had left for me—college, startup money, everything—had been transferred to Elena six months after my “death.”

Legally. Quietly.

A death certificate makes many things simple.

I stared at Elena’s smiling face on my screen and felt something snap inside me.

My sister didn’t just replace me.

She erased me.

Enough was enough.

If they wanted me dead, they were about to learn what it looks like when a dead woman walks back into the room.

The next morning I walked into a law office with a stack of documents and a fire in my chest.

Passport stamps. Employment contracts. Tax filings. Lease agreements. Flight records. Pay stubs. Utility bills. Everything that proved my body had been alive and present and functioning on dates when I was supposedly “deceased.”

The young attorney behind the desk looked at me like he was watching a movie twist happen in real time.

“You’re… challenging your own death?” he asked, voice unsure.

I slid the forged death certificate printout across his desk.

“I’m not dead,” I said. “But I plan to haunt them.”

He blinked, then sat up straighter. “Okay,” he said slowly, professionalism kicking in. “We start with a fraud complaint and a motion to revoke the declaration of death. We’ll involve vital records. The registrar. Possibly criminal investigation. It’ll take time.”

“Legally,” I cut in, voice steady, “I don’t have time.”

He looked up.

“Because apparently,” I said, “I have a memorial this Sunday.”

His eyebrows rose. “They’re—”

“Holding my funeral again,” I finished. “And I’m going.”
